What is Occupational Therapy? Occupational therapy focuses on helping individuals gain the physical, cognitive, emotional, and sensory skills needed for daily activities—also known as “occupations.” These occupations might include self-care, play, school participation, work tasks, or social interaction. At Emerge Therapy Services, our Pediatric Occupational Therapy program is designed to help children and adolescents develop the skills they need to grow, learn, and thrive. From birth through young adulthood, we support children in gaining independence and confidence in their daily routines, play, and social interactions—all through engaging, developmentally appropriate therapy.
What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy? Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on helping children build the physical, emotional, sensory, and cognitive skills necessary for everyday life. “Occupations” for children include everything from getting dressed and feeding themselves to playing with peers, participating in school, and managing emotions. Our therapists use play-based and functional activities to meet children where they are and help them move forward.
